Young people will be able to sit in comfort and safety while they try fishing. Holm Place Anglers used a grant from KT4YS to buy seat boxes and other equipment. The padded chairs have six legs for stability and they can also be used to store items like bait and tackle while rails on the front and back can be used to support rods.
The equipment will be used for the club’s sessions with Special Schools this academic year, as soon as sessions can resume.
Neil Ballard, chairman of Holm Place Anglers, said: “We have been going for 30 years. We are a community-based fishing club and we are trying to get them to try fishing rather than sit inside on the computer. Most of the children get a lot out of it. They might start off and won’t touch the bait or anything but by the end they’re holding the fish. It really does help build their confidence.”
