My name is Georgia Silk, I am 15 years old and have just finished my GCSEs at Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School. I have been fencing and competing since the age of nine. Fencing is very enjoyable to me, I enjoy the training and competitive side. I started fencing at Mallard Fencing Club in Canterbury and my coach Jane Clayton saw potential in me and coached me through to be selected for England. On Jane’s advice I moved onto my current club Newham Swords where I joined their Elite program and is where I train now three times a week with Olympians Linda Strachan and Pierre Harper. The Elite sessions last for three hours and are non-stop fencing and fitness training. I also swim and run regularly and intend to join my local Gym when I am 16 for further strength training. I am so grateful to all the people that have supported me, all my personal coaches for the time they have put into me and my family for all the early morning starts, time and money for getting me to where I need to be.
