As Peter Buravystkiy leaves to compete for Great Britain at the World Age Group Championships in Bulgaria, he reflects on the past three years support provided by Kent Trust for Youth Sport:
“Over the past three years KT4YS has given many great opportunities to travel and compete at big events for Great Britain, and via the financial aid has enabled various restrictions to be overcome in order for me to achieve my ambitions as an athlete. Many of the major world events for GB are self funded for juniors including travel, accommodation, national squad training and kit. Some of these factors can create stressful situations, but thanks to the support of KT4YS, the trustees and the assistance of Jon Rye I have been able to focus on my training and achieve better results in competition, without enduring financial strain to hinder my performance.
I can truly say that Kent Trust has helped me establish a strong foundation and provided the initial push for me to achieve my long term goals within European, World and Olympic prospects in the future. Consequently this support has driven me more towards the sport, allowing me to showcase aspects of physicality that aren’t possible with traditional sports. My experience of the funding period has been very smooth and consistent, with the same structure in which I provide a report for each half of the year. This habit has also allowed myself to reflect on what I have done, and my developments as time progresses.
Thank you KT4YS, the trustees and Jon for all that you have done for me. Your support will be forever cherished and I am very grateful for the opportunity I was given to be a part of the trust, allowing me to develop not only as an athlete but also as an individual.“
Over the last twenty years, £198,554 has been awarded to individuals and organisations across Kent.
