As the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games draw near, many schools across the county are organising Rio INSPIRE Carnival celebrations.
On Wednesday 6 July, with 30 days to go until the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, The Brent Primary School in Dartford held its Carnival full of sport and Samba. Two KT4YS recipients joined the celebrations to share their own story – both of whom are aiming for their own Olympic Games experience in the future.
Madi Rowlands spent time with the Year 2 classes explaining her sport, showing some of the equipment used, and proudly displaying her bronze and Gold Youth Olympic medals. An assembly was held with Year 4 and 5 pupils asking some great questions, such as “Why are your skis curved?”, “How many times have you fallen over?”, and “If you can make up your own stunt, what would it be called?”
David Hall led Athletics sessions for the whole of Key Stage one, engaging them in running races and teaching the ‘Get Set’ position. Find out more about Madi Rowlands and David Hall.
